Utter Trite2010-09-021 / 5
I normally don't review books, but this one I just had to.
Other people here have already outlined the plot, so I'm not going to. This book was just terrible. Patterson's use of short chapters is irksome and just bad. In this book (and maybe others; they're so forgettable I honestly can't remember) he overuses italics so badly. The reader should be focused on your writing, not how many paragraphs they can go before they see a word italicized. He also goes overboard with the use of similes ("while silence did laps around the room" is an exmaple; what does that even mean?) and metaphors.
All in all, just skip it.

Does Patterson Ever Read These Co Authored Books2010-08-241 / 5
Does James Patterson ever read the books he co authors? This series, The Women's Murder Club, always has great plots and interesting mysteries but is so poorly realized to make it laughable! My understanding is that he outlines the books and then gives it to his partner to write it. If that is the case he needs to rethink his co author. Perhaps he should quit trying to have a new book a month come out with his name on it and get back to writing the books himself. But then I think his Alex Cross books have suffered recently.
This one is so stupid that it is hardly readable! I know little of his co author in this series but I have decided to find something by her so I can see if she really does write this badly.
The ending of this one was, after we solved the mystery, lame and had little to do with the story or moving the characters forward. It reminded me of a bad movie that had to many climaxes before finally hobbling off into oblivion.
The main characters are always enjoyable and as I said the plots are interesting but I got a main clue to this one on the books front cover! Which spoiled the joy of trying to figure out what "WCF" really meant. The whole idea that the two main women in the book would share as much as they do is beyond coincidence, it just flat makes no sense in reality!
I must admit that I do not read a lot of Patterson's books I listen to him on unabridged books on tape most of the time due to heavy travel for work. So the pitiful writing could sound worse because of the actress who reads it. But I doubt it!
I recommend you skip this one, it isn't good beach reading!

James Patterson 8 The Confession2010-07-255 / 5
I've read all James Patterson's Women's Murder Club books. I just started this one and already can't put it down...

The book is a typical James Patterson thriller. I can't say enought about his
books. They keep you turning the pages to see what is next. I recommend this book.

No 8 - Not Great2010-07-033 / 5
Interesting in the setting descriptions but not overly exciting in plot line and story development. Having read only one prior WM Club novel, did not find the characters interesting or well developed.
