When a horrifying attack leaves one of the four members of the Women's Murder Club struggling for her life, the others fight to keep a madman behind bars before anyone else is hurt.

And Lindsay Boxer and her new partner in the San Francisco police department run flat-out to stop a series of kidnappings that has electrified the city: children are being plucked off the streets together with their nannies--but the kidnappers aren't demanding ransom. Amid uncertainty and rising panic, Lindsay juggles the possibility of a new love with an unsolvable investigation, and the knowledge that one member of the club could be on the brink of death.

And just when everything appears momentarily under control, the case takes a terrifying turn, putting an entire city in lethal danger. Lindsay must make a choice she never dreamed she'd face--with no certainty that either outcome has more than a prayer of success.

Entertaining Thriller2010-07-303 / 5
This is the second book that I have read in the "Women's Murder Club" series, and while it was an entertaining and fast read, I felt that the plot was buttoned up much too neatly. Patterson and Paetro present a series of interesting plot lines, but the book seems a bit choppy in terms of the transition from each plot, and when they get to the end, I feel like they simply ran out of time and need to finish everything in the quickest, easiest way possible. I gave this three stars because while it is an entertaining read, much like watching a law enforcement drama on television, its missing a bit of depth needed to make it a truly fascinating novel.
I LOVE JAMES PATTERSON!!!!2010-07-185 / 5
LOVED LOVED LOVED THIS BOOK! Kept me on the edge of my seat the whole time!
Disconnected and Disappointing2010-06-012 / 5
Multiple storylines that don't inter-relate, insipid and predictable plots, one-dimensional characters and untimely dead spots. Not one of James Patterson's better efforts. I've read many of Patterson's novels so I can say that this is not a good representation of his work. Sort of felt like Patterson ran out of new ideas so he retread some old stuff that you've read somewhere before. Too bad. The Women's Murder Club is a pretty good series. Skip this one and try another.
Disappointed2010-04-273 / 5
The plot lines didn't really link up well and, in general, I thought the plot was weak and pretty unbelievable at some points. I didn't really manage to identify with the characters and there seemed to be no character development. It's a fast paced read, due to the way he writes and the short chapters, but it didn't really cut it with me. A disapointing read.

The 6th Target shocks right at the start and the action runs full steam to the very end. It's quite possible that this book actually has too much going on with three different cases combined with lots of personal drama between Lindsey and Joe all happening at once.

The overload of cases means an overload of people (suspects, victims, lawyers, and witnesses among others) to keep track of. Even if you can remember who each person is, you still have to figure out which case they belong to.

The pace is fast, the action is thrilling and the shocks are completely unexpected. The only complaint I could have about The 6th Target is that it might contain a little too much of a good thing.
