DiskWarrior is the safest, the most technologically advanced, and the most powerful utility to eliminate directory damage available for any computer. DiskWarrior uses a different approach to disk directory repair than other programs. DiskWarrior is not a disk repair program in the conventional sense. Instead of patching the original directory, it uses a patent-pending technology to quickly build a new replacement directory using data recovered from the original directory, thereby recovering files and folders that you thought were lost and that no other program could recover. Monitors drive hardware for potential drive failure Verification of replacement directory ensures data integrity Comparison of original directory with replacement directory tells you which files and folders may have been affected by directory damage Patented preview feature to view what the disk will look like after the directory is rebuilt, allowing you to view files and folders before any directory changes are written to disk Repairs damaged boot blocks and blesses the system folder to ensure that the computer will start from the repaired disk

| Alsoft DiskWarrior 4.2 is not worth the money. It did nothing to retrieve iPhotos that I had accidentally deleted. It can't retrieve files that have been deleted. It might be OK to rework the directory, but it costs way too much for that task. |

| No Mac user can afford to be without this program. It has some improvements; fixed lots of stuff. |

| When Snow Leopard began running slower then it should I tried Disk Warrior. It optimized the drive and now the computer zips along just like before. |

So I pay $100 for a software, comes in a cheap box and even the cd/dvd is cheap, it's one of those u buy at a retailer and burn ( with the blue area ). I was pretty disappointed that it looks as if someone made it in his mom's basement.
Then insalling it, everything fine.. but again I feel disappointed, it felt empty.. I thought it would do a lot more than what it did, I feel that it does not do enough to be worth $100. Does it do the job right ? I have no idea, I can't really tell much difference on my laptop. |

After throwing a tantrum because OS X (10.6.0)'s built-in disk repair utility revealed it could not repair my external USB drive's index, I started scoping out available products.
I ultimately chose Disk Warrior (now version 4.2, which started shipping on September 1st and has Snow Leopard (10.6) compatibility) because of others' praises of it. (That and 10.6 compatibility too).
Works like a dream. It rebuilt the HFS partition and my bippy was saved.
I have only one issue, which is small; for hardware disk devices to test, only the internal drive comes up. The USB drive isn't available for this test. As I will be migrating to a Firewire 800 drive in the near future, I will check this menu and see if Firewire drives can be tested.
Excellent piece of kit. HIGHLY recommended for every Mac owner.
